Insights/Quriox Intern (Part Time) Research San Diego, CA - Remote

We are seeking a Business Researcher to become an integral part of our team! You will conduct business research on various market verticals and analyze data to understand market saturation, competitors, consumer behavior and trends, demographics, market opportunities. Ideal candidate is a skilled researcher with a knack for data. In this position, you will gather business/market specific statistics and analytics, market financials, demographic data, and more. You will aggregate and organize outlined research data into consumable, clean and concise business reports. The information you present will help businesses optimize their revenue and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect data on consumers, competitors and market place and consolidating information into actionable items, reports and presentations
  • Understand business objectives and design surveys to discover customer insights and perspectives
  • Compile and analyze statistical data using modern and traditional methods to collect information
  • Conduct broad market research for both Oriyn's internal and customer facing products and services, which includes synthesizing major reports, books, and conversations/interviews, surveys, and more.
  • Craft research plans based on potential gaps in high-level analysis, specifically attempting to isolate and understand the areas that are relevant to Oriyn’s products and market opportunities.
  • Work closely with company executives conduct research based on their need’s requirements.
  • Work closely with Oriyn customers to conduct research based on their need’s requirements.
  • Collect market data on Oriyn’s clients, competitors, and markets
  • Perform valid and reliable market research SWOT analysis
  • Interpret data, formulate reports, and make recommendations
  • Use online market research and catalogue findings to databases
  • Provide competitive analysis on various companies’ market offerings.
  • Identify market trends, pricing/business models, sales, and methods of operation.
  • Evaluate program methodology and key data to ensure that data on the releases are accurate and the angle of the release is correct.
  • Remain fully informed on market trends, other parties research and implement best practices.
  • Work 100% remotely and participate in regular team meetings and calls
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of market research experience, evaluating business/market data to solve complex questions, and creating consumable, clear and concise reports for business stakeholders.
  • Research experience in the tech industry is a plus. 
  • Quantitative research: 1-3 years
  • User research: 3 years 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven Business Research experience
  • Proven Market Research Analysis experience
  • Ability to interpret large amounts of data and to multi-task
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical packages (SPSS, SAS or similar), databases
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite effectively (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint are a must)
  • Ability to use Google Suite effectively (Google Drive, Docs, Forms, Slides) is a must
  • Ability to use CRM's and other management tools are necessary. Some of the tools you will be required to use: Calendly, Typeform, HubSpot, ClickUp, Trello. 
  • Search engines, web analytics and business research tools acumen
  • Familiarity with CRM programs
  • Adequate knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys etc)
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing, modelling, and mining
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking
  • Experienced knowledge of data collection methods (executive interviews, polls/surveys, focus groups, etc...)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking.
  • Ability to interpret large amounts of data and deliver impactful insights.
  • Ability to plan through ambiguity to reach actionable insights.
  • Ability to thrive with complex, sometimes ambiguous tasks.

Design Specific Skillsets

  • Knowledge of Design Thinking methodology, especially as it's applied in software and business settings - is a major plus!
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, strategy, product, and platform teams.

Education & Training

  • Currently enrolled in a university program working towards a Bachelor's or Masters in marketing, journalism, communications, statistics, cognitive sciences, or a related field.
  • BS degree (or equivalent experience) in Statistics, Marketing, or related field

Ability to work remotely

This role requires the ability to work remotely. This means you have access to a working stable internet connection. You have access to a secure email client that can send and receive email communications without interruption. you're an organized, self-starter that requires minimal oversight. You accomplish tasks quickly and on time. Working remotely is not always an easy task. But for you, you got it down to a science. You will be required to check in for regular team meetings and calls held virtually via Zoom
